Help Animal Services Clear the Shelter
Adoption fees waived on Saturday, August 18, 2018
(Rockford, IL) – Winnebago County Animal Services will be joining the 900 shelters across the country and teaming up with NBC Owned Television Stations and Telemundo for Clear the Shelters, a nationwide pet adoption event on Saturday, August 18, 2018.
If you are looking for a companion, Winnebago County Animal Services (WCAS) is offering fee waived adoptions on cats and dogs (6 months and older) at the 4517 North Main Street facility only on Saturday, August 18, 2018 from 11am to 3:30pm. All adoptions include a free wellness exam, spay or neuter, microchip, vaccinations including a one year rabies shot, flea and tick preventative, and more. Winnebago County residents also receive a one year rabies registration tag. In order to adopt, you must have an approved adoption application by WCAS and present a State-issued photo ID. Adopters with a Pre-Approved Card will have the first option to enter the building and will line up in a separate line. Adopters are encouraged to have their application pre-approved and pick up their card prior to the event.
“We are excited to see our adoptable cats and dogs find happy, loving homes on August 18th,” says Adoption Coordinator Donna Apgar. “We are hoping to see lots of empty cages and happy adopters with this event. Last year, we adopted 50 cats and dogs in one day.”
The fee waived adoptions for this event are sponsored by the Winnebago County Animal Services Auxiliary (WCASA). The WCASA is a not for profit group of animal concerned citizens that work towards making a difference for the animals while under the care of WCAS.
Winnebago County Animal Services, in cooperation with Clear the Shelters and NBC Chicago Channel 5, will be participating for the second time and we are hoping that all of our pets will find their forever homes.
